For me, right now, I'm digging Too Much by Terri Cole, LCSW. I tend to take on a lot of stuff and then I burn out. This book talks about overcommitment as a form of high functioning codependency.
Grief Therapy
I have a client who has recently experienced a large amount of losses. What is your go-to for someone grieving multiple losses? Any help is appreciated!

I'm just a student, so take this with a grain of salt, I suppose. I would have them talk about one loss at a time, and ask them about who/what they lost, what the loss means to them, etc. Was there any unfinished business? Empty chair technique or letter writing (doesn't matter if it's a thing or a job or an identity, they can still personify that thing to "talk" to it. Maybe psychoeducation. Regarding grief (it comes and goes in waves, leaves an empty space, will eventually transform) Eventually, they will be ready to transform the grief. When that happens, they will be able to make a memorial box. I did this with a group of mothers who lost children to gun violence. In the box, they can place letters, pictures, awards or medals, a little something that reminds them of the person. They can put it in a special place at home where they can "visit" their loved one.

This link may help explain the memory box a bit better: Creating a Memory Box for a Deceased Loved One https://share.google/41DBjNfjdMFyeVOMw

I am just seeing this right now. My goal for this week was to get my homework done on time so I could attend Day on the Hill and ICA conference in Springfield, IL on Wednesday and Thursday. I was able to attend, but I am still working on my homework. I fell behind on my notes, so I also have to figure out when to catch up (thankfully, I keep detailed notes on paper, I just need to type and submit). The Day on the Hill and ICA conference was the battery recharger I did not know I needed! I got to reconnect with a friend, got to hang out with another, met new people, learned new stuff, and became a form of self-care I did not know I needed. Also, I got to meet Noelle briefly! :)
IMHCA Convention in Orland Park, IL
Hello everyone! Is anyone attending the IMHCA convention in Orland Park this Friday and Saturday? As a Counseling Student, I volunteered to help out, but if any of you are attending, I would love to connect!

WIN Wednesday!
There has not been a Win Wednesday in a couple of weeks or so, so I figured I would start one this week. Let us know your wins to celebrate with you! My win this week - I completed my certification to be a Certified Trauma Professional earlier today. :) I have not yet completed my education or training as a counselor, but I get to add letters after my name to my (future) collection.
