@Stephen Winiecki I second Stephen’s comment about saturation and distance. This will improve your painting by leaps.
imprimatura rock landscape progress
I've been wanting to paint more rocks, so here is the early block in stages of a new painting. I used a warm imprimatura to start, then continued to block in general values and color tones. The painting is not finished, but I wanted to show the work in progress. This block in stage is important for defining the value structure and begin to establish a warm and cool color relationship in this rocky landscape. Have you ever used an imprimatura?
