Nature Rewards
The work we put in pays off. This is observed in natural systems everywhere we look. Birds build bests to provide shelter for eggs and ultimately their offspring. Trees, through their processes, provide purified air that allows life to continue. Animals gather and store resources when they're available for use when they're not. What work are you putting in that benefits the daily, the short term, as well as the long term?

@Erick Krause So many nuisance grasses. When I am somewhere long enough I get rid of it all, and have some other kind of groundcover.

@Erick Krause I avoid plastic whenever possible. So, no to tarping it. The reality is, in this place they used a weed cloth barrier. And, as usual, it doesn't last as anything worthwhile. The grass likes to use it to weave in and out of. Normally, I layer at least a foot of soil building material on top. But, I am here temporarily and it is framed beds, another thing I don't like. So, I am loosening the soil with a fork, carefully lifting the grass, shaking the soil out of it's roots, laying the grass roots in the sun to die, and then composting it.
