HeyGen asked me for a multi-avatar showcase, something that shows what the platform does once you stop using a single avatar and start putting several of them into a scene together. Three thousand people had already registered for the class on Wednesday, so I figured maybe I might as well give them a show instead of a demo reel. It became a sitcom. Three's Company meets The Odd Couple, except all three roommates are the same guy. One is in the hoodie, one is in the polo, and the third one arrived in patent leather and has notes on the title. Built under three rules. Three avatars in a frame, maximum. Fifteen seconds, maximum. And once a clip generates it cannot be edited, so any change means a new prompt and paying for the whole thing again. Against all of that, the first clip is a single generation with nothing assembled afterward. I want to share a moment that meant a lot to me, and an invitation that comes with it. I recently opened the HeyGen Events page and found my face, my name, and a class with my title on it. Mastering Multi-Avatar Videos and Avatar Shots, featured on the platform itself. I have made a lot of things with these tools. This one landed differently, and it took me a little while to understand why. It was not the photo. It was everything the photo does not show. The version that came before it, and the many before that. The scenes rebuilt because the characters changed clothes halfway through. The two-avatar conversations where neither one was listening. The nights spent learning why one clip worked and the next fell apart. That part rarely makes the highlight, and it is the part that actually matters. There is a chart going around, a version Steven Bartlett shared, where preparation climbs quietly while opportunity runs flat, and the crossing point is what most people call luck. The opportunity is the visible part. The preparation is what made it mean something when it arrived.
