I was downstairs in my kitchen having a bastard strong coffee. I found myself thumbing instagram. Larry Heard’s tagged you in a post. “Cool” i thought “I wonder how many Larry Heard’s there are” My inner wally was like - it’s a random Larry Larry He’s from Stevenage Or Portishead It’s Larry from Bognor. It wasn’t It was Larry fucking Heard a.k.a. Mr. Fingers and he’s not only is he tagged me but he has played one of my tracks track with me singing on it on his radio show It was Larry fucking Heard a.k.a. Alongside some proper tackle aswell Like what i would consider ‘real’ house Weirdly the track in question had come on in the car no more than a week before and I listened to and thought “Huh, that’s not actually bad, shame it didn’t really connect” “it’s a shame when that happens” Thought nothing more of it Until two weeks later I get notification about (real) Larry Heard busting it out He also used it as the music for the back ground of the post, where he'd listed the entire track list So I sent him a message (obvs) I made an effort to connect with him And as you'd expect, he was very lovely and very humble and said thank you for making sharing how much it meant. (I did an IG post about it too) So why am I mentioning working with Mr Fingers?? I’ll tell you more about that tomorrow. The point of this message, other than being a little tease is to remind me (& you) you never know what's going to connect and with whom The only thing that's certain is it won't connect with any fucker (not even Larry from Bognor) if you keep it locked away on your drive on a on a DAT tape in your shed.
