Seeking holistic remedies for tendon injury
Hello ladies! I am a massage therapist and had such a dumb accident that put me out of work for two months. I ruptured my (DIP) tendon on my middle finger, also known as “mallet finger”. It was a 40 degree rupture, which is pretty significant, so I’m in a splint 24/7. After 4 weeks the tendon is healing, but could be better. I still have a crazy amount of swelling, and my skin is irritated from the medical tape, and I change it often (daily/everyother - unfortunately it’s the only thing that keeps the splint stable) Luckily it’s not too painful, I’ll get random zingers. I would love any advice for tendon healing/swelling. I don’t think there’s much I can do for the stiffness, until I can do pt. But whatever else you can offer I will gladly receive! Thank youuu 🤍

Hi Tiffany! ouch! that sounds very painful and like a very stressful injury for a massage therapist to experience! I put together a little product list and protocol for you. How much are you able to work around the splint? We can adjust your plan according to what you can actually do here. To start here are my recommendations: External: For your poor irritated skin and finger a chamomile tea soak. This will help soothe the inflamed tissue and irritated skin. Soak in warm tea water as long as feels comfortable and relieving. Next layer or blend: 3 drops gotu kola tincture, SJW oil, and arnica oil Gently massage each layer or combined mixture into your finger. If you can't access your finger enough to "massage" maybe a saturated cotton round or piece of flannel may be laid over where there is access to your skin? Internal support: 1 dropper nettle, 1 dropper SJW, 1 dropper gotu kola in a shot glass with a little water; take morning and afternoon Collagen: add to water, tea, smoothie or beverage of choice once a day. This is giving your body the building blocks to repair itself. Sublingual arnica: take as needed for inflammation and pain Turmeric ginger tea: supports tissue healing, reduces inflammation and promotes collagen production while boosting the immune system. try squeezing a little fresh lemon for an added collagen producing vitamin C boost! also consider adding a little local honey to really round out the local histamine and antimicrobial support! tip: when adding honey to tea, wait until to tea is drinking temperature before adding to avoid killing those amazing beneficial microbes! https://us.fullscript.com/plans/mg1669047052-tendon-injury-support
