First ebook - What's your perfect word count?
Hi All, I have a moderate amount of content from past experience and my journey thus far but I want to pull and extract relevant content into one cohesive e-book to explain where I was and where I am now as an initial offering to build trust with prospective clients. My question to you all is: What is the length of your perfect read? I want it to remain engaging but leave enough intrigue to stay engaged. I love reading but if you put Lord of the Rings in front of me I would feel overwhelmed and probably not start or quit in the first quarter. So all opinions welcome - perfect word count of an initial e-book..... Thanks in advance 🙂

I don’t think there is a perfect word count. It’s enough to cover the topic and help me grow, while staying relevant and interesting.
Advice
What is the best piece of advice you can give to a coach who is just starting their journey? Thanks in advance.

Listen actively - hear what the person says/doesn’t say and how they say it without immediately thinking of your next question.
Language is a Barrier, What's your advice?
White I record my coaching content, not being an English speaker, I sometimes feel like I am not doing good. What's your advice?

You mentioned that despite English not being your first language, you are able to help people in English. This is a good thing. Have you tried language learning apps like Duolingo? They are a great way to improve without overwhelm.
Setting up a business..
Struggling to prioritise the immense list of things to do... Legal stuff, social stuff, practical stuff. For all of you that are well established, what do you wish you had done differently when starting out (from a business point of view).. (or any other advice you can offer) 😊

Of course, the answer will vary based on where you live. One tip is to go to your government’s business website and find out what’s essential. There are many third-parties that will complicate things for you and charge a lot to simplify. Start with the (state/province) site and then determine if it’s worth paying someone to help set up the appropriate business entity. Then set up a separate business banking account so your finances are not commingled. The truth is, you don’t need a website or fancy branding to help your first client. You can create those things along the way.
Exact steps for Certification Process -UPDATED
Many have contacted me asking how to complete this process, so I thought I would lay it out here, step-by-step, in hopes it might help everyone. Ed has created a video outlining the steps, which I will summarize below https://www.skool.com/lifecoachcertificationfree/classroom/8ba4b069?md=023fc73b2bb14a25ba0bb47e14264f32. Here are THE STEPS: Send an email to '[email protected]" containing the following: (since it is highly unlikely that you will be able to send your video via email due to size restrictions, I suggest creating a Google folder, adding these items there, and then sending the link to that folder). 1. A recording of ONE of your coaching sessions: (NOTE: This can be a video or audio - they are evaluating your coaching skills, which come through your language. There is no requirement on length - whether it's 30 minutes or 90 minutes does not matter). UPDATE: If your primary language is something OTHER than English, contact Ed's team at the email above to inquire if you can submit your coaching session in your native language. 2. A completed copy of the Coaching Assessment document (See attached) of your assessment of that coaching session. (NOTE: This is a SELF-ASSESSMENT where you assess the coaching session you are submitting. This requires NO ONE other than yourself. You submit this form, COMPLETED, with your coaching call.) 3. A completed Coaching Academy feedback form (See attached). 4. An acknowledgment that you have completed all the modules (They can check this behind the scenes so they already know if you did or did not complete them) 5. NOTHING ELSE NEEDS TO BE SUBMITTED. Your completion of your "tasking" is accepted on an honor system - they trust you are doing it, and you do not need to submit it. - NOTE: Most videos are too long to send via email - for that reason, I created a Google folder containing all the above and sent them the link to that folder (with access rights) in the email. - The coaching Assessment document is an Excel spreadsheet where you rate how well YOU covered each of the steps outlined in the spreadsheet. This is your best guess at how well you did and what you can improve upon. I don't believe they are looking for perfection, as we are always improving our skills. - UPDATE: many have asked if you need to demonstrate ALL the distinctions covered in the Expert Coach training. I think that would be a challenge to do - based on the self-assessment form, these are the skills you DO need to be able to demonstrate: 1)Creates introduction that is focused and engages the client. 2) Poise and confidence. 3) Pacing of speech. 4) Conveys ideas with originality and clarity 5) Addresses short-term goals 6) Addresses long-term goals 7) Responds to questions
