1500 time trial (sorry this post is so long haha)
it's the second time I've ever done the 1500 (I do it like once a year, first time was last June). last time I did it, I didn't double cap since I used to just put my goggles under my cap and call it a day. that was the first and last time my cap fell off lol, I always double cap now, and I think it happened when I had a good 500 left or so - this time I double capped. I could feel BOTH of my caps sliding up my forehead though and I kept pulling it down on every other turn since it was short course and obviously its a time trial anyways, and on my push and glides in my streamlines, I would put pressure on my head to pull down the cap if that makes sense. anyway, I dropped 42 seconds from last year (I went 18:59.91 and my coach wanted me to go sub-19:00) but I really really want to race it again since if I can go sub 19 with technical issues like that, I can definitely drop a good 10 seconds since it messed up so many of my turns, especially since it was short course. I'm also not really "worn out" of racing it, which I get with my 400im, for instance. like I'm genuinely excited to race it again since I'm optimistic for it, but its hard to find meets with the 1500 available. overall I'm pretty happy though, since my technique has felt pretty off for quite a while, since January or so, and finally I'm starting to feel my freestyle technique fall back into place, how it was before when I was consistently pbing. anyways, big pb today but I know I can do better, but it also just makes me hopeful for upcoming competitions.

how do i tell a bad race from being caused by something physical or something mental? i haven't gotten significant pbs in my important races and i can't tell if it's from a lack of technique or if it's just my thinking process beforehand.

I've been struggling with threshold 200s recently as my time is pretty old and I feel slow if I go off of my current time, but usually it is still difficult. I held PB+15-17 200s this week though, and I think my technique is feeling better. (small process win)

obstacles: i feel tired quite often and i don't know if i am getting enough sleep, my nutrition could be better, and my stroke technique in all strokes feels "off" and hasn't felt good since early december; i also have not gotten many significant pbs since then, and have not gotten any at all on my best events.
