In thinking about the army determination... In this formation and defensive alignment, how would you count the head up D lineman on #3? i.e. would this be a count of 2, 2.5 or 3 in the pre-snap window? Would it be different if it was a trips formation with a head up defender on #3?

Last year was my first year coaching and the school (3A) got a new HC last year. I started off as a volunteer in March and wound up being JV HC by July. It was a crazy ride. Didn't even know what I didn't know. This year I'll be varsity OC and JV HC. Program has been down for a few years so we really need to get the kids some confidence in what they are doing. Even with my limited knowledge and experience what I have seen of the system makes a lot of sense and I think the kids (and I) will pick it up quickly. I also think it will fit nicely into the foundation of what we did last year.
