The Return
I wandered far beneath wide skies, Chasing dreams that dared to rise, Through valleys deep and rivers wide, Where grass would wave and winds would sigh— An ancient whisper brushed my ear, Yet I couldn’t grasp its meaning clear. I sought the truth in winds that blew, In morning mist and evening dew; I climbed the peaks, I crossed the seas, Hoping there to find the keys. But in the wind’s soft, restless song, I found a silence, pure and strong— It called me back, though far I’d roamed, To where the wilds had always grown. The mountains rose, the forests deep, And served as compass in my keep; In their shadows, still and clear, I found the guidance held so near. For all along, the gains I sought Were rooted deep in every thought— The earth I walked, the sky so vast, Had shaped my future, tied to past. Yet here I stand, my path unsure, Dreams in flight, with purpose pure. I sought the world, found joy and strain, But the mountain calls—a steady refrain. It speaks of growth, of strength, of light, A reminder that nature guides our heights. In its wild embrace, we’re called to rise, To forge ahead with open eyes.

Beautiful Dan. I found this line, particularly thought-provoking: “For all along, the gains I sought Were rooted deep in every thought” Have you seen much of the work of David Deutsch? He speaks a lot about how the idea and thought and imagination are In someways the start of everything, they embody everything, they can re-create the physical world, they create value… I’m not able to fully articulate it, but there’s something related between what you shared and what his ideas are. Brett Hall does a lot to articulate his work: https://x.com/tokteacher/status/1842551464377684361?s=46&t=TdACw4r4asf5fdNflL_cjA
