My second post - The Market Has Changed. Let’s Be Honest.
My first active community members told me that their main pain point is getting a job and progressing in their career. Thank you very much @Ludmila Onica @Fabrizio Bagalà @David Esquinas @Patryk Bilan ➔ So I think this is the direction this community should take. I’ve been reflecting on it, and I’m considering renaming the community “Scrum Career Accelerator" because career growth seems to be the real topic here. Now, let me share something personal. When I started my Scrum career in 2018, the market was very different. Back then, you could pass a solid Scrum certification (like PSM I or PSPO I), read a couple of good Agile books, update your CV with the right keywords, contact a few consultancy agencies… and you would get interviews. That’s exactly what happened to me. I joined a consultancy, they introduced me to clients, and I got my first mission. My career transition took only a couple of months. It wasn’t effortless, of course, but it wasn’t this competitive either. Today feels very different. - The market is more mature. - There’s less hype around Scrum (that’s a fact). - Tech hiring has slowed down. - AI is changing expectations Now it’s not enough to simply “know Scrum.” You need to show real impact, strong positioning, and differentiated skills. At least, that’s how I see it. But maybe your country is different. Maybe your experience is different. So I’m curious: - Do you feel the market has changed? How? - What skills do you think are critical today? - What is your biggest blocker right now, job search or career growth? Let’s talk openly and build something truly useful here 💬 And be honest: What do you think about the new name: Scrum Career Accelerator? 😊

@Ludmila Onica @David Esquinas Hi David, hi Ludmila, Thank you both for sharing your experience. I completely understand your perspective. Some agencies do offer low salaries, especially when they focus mainly on margins rather than long-term relationships. That said, agencies are not all the same. A good consulting agency can give you access to big clients you would probably never reach directly. For example, entering a large organization like a major bank is often extremely difficult as an individual applicant. However, through the right agency, you can access those opportunities much more easily. In my own case, I have worked with consulting firms in France and had very positive experiences. It really depends on the agency, the contract model, and your negotiation power. I see three main paths: 1. Joining a consulting agency 2. Being employed directly by the end client 3. Working as an independent / freelance and contracting directly Each path has advantages and trade-offs. Instead of rejecting one model completely, I think it’s smarter to understand how each works and use them strategically. The key is not “agency vs direct client” but "positioning and leverage". Let’s explore all options. 😊
