Free Book on Mushrooms
Hi Everyone! I don't know the author personally. She sent me an advance copy of her book and it is now on Amazon Kindle for FREE. Only the next day or so is it free, so jump on it now. Please read it and leave her a review for the courtesy of the free book: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DWMH5FV5
Shutting down the group for now
Hi Everyone! I am spread way too thin and simply don't have enough time to devote to the group. I would love to keep in touch with all of you!! This group will go dark on February 21st... so if you want to stay in touch, DM me your phone number or your email and we can talk there. There are so many awesome groups in Skool for gardening, etc.... hope to see you there!
Free wood chips for you
Hey y'all, I once got a load from chipdrop.com and it cost me about $40 to entice someone enough to drive out where I am. That was 3 years ago... and not another once since. Duke energy, my electric company, just left us a notice that they will be trimming trees in my area... the name of the company and a contact was on the door hanger. I called immediately, talked to a nice lady named Carol... she hadn't even left my driveway yet lol! I let her know that I would be delighted to get some wood chips on my property and she seemed thrilled that her guys would have a place to drop that is near the work being done. Now... I may regret this. I don't know. Maybe I'll get some undesireable types of wood. Maybe there will be poison ivy that was wrapped around some trees... I don't know. I'm hoping that doesn't happen since they are trimming branches. Comment below: have you tried calling local tree trimmers or your electric company to offer your property as a convenient way for them to drop some wood chips? Did I just unknowingly hurt myself? Inquiring minds want to know!

🌿 Hey everyone! Excited to Connect! 🌿
Hey homesteaders! πŸ‘‹ I’m Mary-Heather, and I’m so excited to be part of this community! I’ve been on a journey of natural living, herbal remedies, and self-sufficiency, and I love learning from others who share a passion for homesteading, sustainability, and working with nature. I am in zone 7B! I focus on herbal wellness, foraging, and growing medicinal plants, and I love exploring ways to incorporate them into daily life. Whether it’s making herbal tinctures, crafting natural remedies, or finding ways to live more in sync with the seasons, I’m always eager to share and learn! I love growing my own food and mixing in so many herbs that keep the bugs at bay! Looking forward to connecting, exchanging knowledge, and growing together! 🌱 Drop a comment and let me knowβ€”what’s your favorite thing about homesteading? 🏑✨ I would love to know what people are doing for slugs, cabbage, moths and Japanese beetles...lol

Welcome @Mary-Heather Fajardo ! So excited to have you. Beautiful pictures! Sounds like we are on the same journey. I signed up to volunteer for my local county's invasive group... that meets up to pull invasives. Your post reminded me... I need to find some recipes to take advantage of the medicinal and nutritional properties of "invasives" so folks know their usefulness :-)
First time gardener...what's a good crop to start with?
We're creating a small backyard garden about 1,400 sq ft. Approx 540 sq ft will be dedicated to the greenhouse and chicken coop. The frontyard will have a shaded herb garden. What are some essential crops you think I should start with? I'm looking at crops that are beginner friendly, good yield, versatile foods for cooking for a family with kids.

@Kym Lam Sam I recommend @David The Good 's books. His "grocery row garden" concept is the best. I have followed him for years, he has a ton of YouTube vids and he also has a paid community here on Skool. I am a member and highly recommend you join, too!
