CIRCLE OF SOUND: How R U Getting On?
15 OCTOBER Hello fellow creators! Just wanted to check in and see how everyone is doing now that we are over halfway through the second cycle of the games. Quick reminder: This coming Tuesday 15th we will be handing over the 32 bar loop we have created to the next member in our group. This 32 bar loop will have been created using ONLY sounds/samples that were supplied in the sound pack given to us by our team mate at the end of last cycle. How is everyone getting on? What challenges have you run in to? What have you enjoyed? I'm super excited to see what everyone is making ❤️ TEAM 1 @Døøms Ben glass @David Vannucci @Lex Christopherson TEAM 2 @Marius Kucharzak @Patrick Huitema @Phil Jones TEAM 3 @Pianika Tomlinson @Sylvain Le groux @Aretius Klosa TEAM 4 @Anton Kholomiov @Rachael Clare @Alex Grabiner TEAM 5 @Lindsay Frederiksen @Christoph Eike [We need another team mate] TEAM 6 @Michael Singleton @Ok Ok

almost ready :) one question tho, is it allowed to use effects in a creative (non-mixing-oriented) way? like some particular delays or reverbs to change the character of a sound. Or should we just limit ourselves to pure audio editing (stretch/pitch/cut/etc)?
WHY YOU SHOULD START YOUR OWN LABEL RIGHT NOW 🔥
Starting your own label can be a game-changer. For me, launching GLITTER COWBOY wasn’t just about putting out music; it was about crafting a space where I could explore my artistic vision freely, alongside my friends and collaborators. The majority of my streams - tens of millions - come from tracks I’ve released on this label, made with people I love working with. You don’t need some big, well-known label to find champion you to grow. It's a myth. A remnant of a bygone era. So many artists get trapped in the waiting game, hoping a big label will swoop in and sign them. But here’s the reality: a label won’t save you. Your vision will. When you create your own space, you’re not just building your artist project; you’re building a brand that stands for something, that resonates with others on a deeper level. GLITTER COWBOY allows me to release music whenever I want, however I want, without waiting for permission or fitting into someone else’s schedule. I’m not just releasing music; I’m sharing a piece of a larger narrative, a collective story that grows with each release. Don’t let waiting for a label stop you from putting out your music. Start your own, even if it’s small. It doesn’t need to be perfect; it just needs to be yours. Cultivate your sound, build your brand, and show the world what you’re about - because the world doesn’t need another artist waiting for their break. It needs you, right now, unapologetically releasing your truth. (All of the beige cover releases were released on my label GLITTER COWBOY)

@Aretius Klosa it's quite a relaxed approach, more than a label i would say it's a collective, so i'm lucky to have a bunch of other folks involved. Due to that it doesn't take that much time weekly, aside from regularly meeting with the others to discuss what's going on. On he distribution side we just have a label plan on distrokid, we try to release music quite regularly as well as organising events/parties (at the moment mainly in Sweden). We do pretty much everything in house, taking care of the artworks, youtube videos, social media stuff and event organising, but as we're a bunch of people the work is spread out pretty nicely and we don't have always a lot to do. here's our website where you can see pretty much everything that's going on https://www.fractalbabyrecords.com/ I think i wouldn't have started this project just by myself, mainly cause the main idea was getting different minds together and collaborate to do something nice together, but i understand there might be different points of view on this :) so to answer your question about how to start from there, i can say it depends on where you want to go :)

DIY Step / Stutter FX
Someone posted about Tantra 2 this morning and that inspired me to play around a bit with bitwig's grid and try to achieve something conceptually similar but with more focus on what i would use out of all the feature such plugins provide. So after a bit of tweaking and twiddling i came up with something fun to play with. It can definitely be improved with more interesting modulations and feedback loops between some grid devices but even as is i spent a good hour having fun with it :) here's a little video i recorded about how i would use it, which is mainly to mess around with loops and find happy accidents that i would otherwise not come up with. The concept is pretty simple, so it can be easily extended with different effects (inside the grid or not), and the remote controls (those macros at the beginning of the chain) can be remapped to the controls you prefer. The step modulators can also be replaced by segments which gives a nicer control for some use cases. If you want to try it out here's a link to the preset: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1m9kRqe6YG9A7DlT9oku0MCI2G7xPVCrT/view?usp=sharing Have a great day, and have fun! :) edit: I noticed i forgot to go over the grid in the video, attached a screenshot of it for reference :)

@Emanuel Drapała this one is actually pretty simple if you take it as separate parts, it’s basically just a sequential chain of effects
What is the next piece of music gear on your shopping list?
Have you been eyeing any hardware or software lately and you're just waiting to pull the trigger? What is it and what do you think it will help you with?
