Managing Scope
I have always wanted to make a game with a really memorable story and when I think of games that have had that impact on me. That usually includes what would have been considered massive budget games for their time. including Halo:CE, Fallout, Portal, StarCraft, but the truth of games now is you have the resources to make an impactful narrative without a massive budget or even a massive team. Free game engines, free assets, free modeling software. The problem is how to I manage ambition enough to have a product that I can within a reasonable amount of time and release with positive reviews or that "impact". Let's manage our scope.

Scope creep and feature creep are definitely real. I find myself having to take a step back to determine if the feature is truly needed or can be scaled down. It’s something you only really learn by experience and setting goals. Giving yourself specific deadlines for features is a good way to keep in scope. Anyone else have personal tips or things that work for them?

@Hayden Howard that’s a good phrase, I’ll have to remember that.
