Today we are focused on student empowerment. A great way for students to feel empowered is to understand that success is actually possible. One way to do that, is by inspiring them with your own story of struggle to success. It doesn't have to be anything extreme, but something that demonstrates an obstacle that you overcame. For today's challenge, write a short example of a triumph story that you have. What is something you can share with students to let them know that "overcoming" is possible? Comment your example down below, and be sure to engage with other comments! Here is a framework you can use to quickly tell a powerful story of triumph. 1. Relatable hook: connect your struggle to something they can understand. 2. Emotions experienced: explain how it made you feel. 3. Epiphany bridge: tell what happened to lead to success. 4. Picture of success: Describe the success with clarity, feelings, and emotion. Daryl's example: (1) I almost gave up on teaching before I even started because I failed the praxis so many times. (2) I felt dumb, inadequate, and as if I had wasted four years of college. (3) However, I knew that it was possible, and believed that I was capable. I purchased an online course to help me study, and on the third try, I finally passed and became certified. (4) From there I went on to become a two-time teacher of the year, school administrator, author, and international speaker. If I would have given up when I wanted to, I would've never made the impact I was created to make.
