Google Maps is no longer just a directory. It's becoming a recommendation engine.
Google's Ask Maps feature is now interpreting what customers ask and recommending specific businesses based on their situation, not just showing a list. When someone searches "who should I call for a second opinion on my furnace?" Google doesn't just list HVAC companies. It picks the ones it understands well enough to explain why they're a good fit. The businesses getting recommended aren't necessarily the ones with the most reviews. They're the ones Google can clearly describe. Three things that determine whether Google recommends you: 1. Your GBP description clearly explains what you do and what types of jobs you handle 2. Your reviews mention real situations, not just "great service" 3. Your website has content that speaks to the specific jobs you want to win 4. If Google can't explain your business, it won't recommend it. Check how your profile looks right now with our free GBP Analyzer: 👉 https://makariosmarketing.com/google-business-profile-analyzer/?utm_source=skool&utm_medium=post&utm_campaign=ask_maps Is your GBP description specific enough? Drop it in the comments and let's take a look. 👇

Online Visibility Doesn't Happen Overnight. But It Does Happen.
One of the biggest mistakes I see local service business owners make is expecting results too fast and giving up too soon. The businesses dominating Google Maps and AI search right now didn't get there overnight. They got there by doing simple things consistently over a long period of time. That's it. No shortcuts, no secret tactics. If you're just getting started, here's where to focus: 1. Set up your Google Business Profile completely. Name, description, photos, hours, service area. No empty fields. 2. Pick the one service you most want leads for and make sure your profile clearly reflects that. 3. Start asking every happy customer for a review. One a week beats a burst of ten in one day every single time. 4. Make sure your business name, address, and phone number are identical everywhere online. Google notices inconsistencies. 5. Post on your GBP at least once a week. A photo, an update, anything. Activity signals matter. That's your foundation. Nothing complicated, nothing expensive. Just consistent effort applied in the right direction. Results take time. Three months of doing this right will show you more progress than three years of doing nothing. Stay patient, stay consistent, and trust the process. This community exists so you don't have to figure this out alone. If you're stuck on something specific, drop your question in the comments below. We'll work through it here in public so everyone in the same situation can learn from it. No question is too basic. And one more thing. If you know another local service business owner who is trying to figure out their online marketing, share this community with them. Our goal is to build the largest local service growth community in North America, a place where contractors, cleaners, landscapers, and every other local service business can grow together. The more people we have in here, the more we all learn. Share the link and let's build this together 👇 🔗 https://www.skool.com/home-service-growth-hub-3676
