I am a grandmother of a 4 yr old which I have been taking care of since birth. What got me rethinking what I am teaching him happened a couple of days ago we were at the dentist and a little girl came to him and offered a pretend sundae. It was a plastic cup looked like those that ice cream shops serve fancy ice cream in with felt toppings and a ball plus a fake cherry. He looked at me and said what is that and the little girl told him ice cream for you. My boy said that's not ice cream and as I tried to explain to him that she was playing pretend he didn't Understand what that was or what was going on. I realized then that he has no imagination and doesn't know how to pretend. My heart sank and I started to look for ways to help him. We learned things to be ready for school like alphabet, numbers, colors, days, months his name but never how to play or use his imagination. So here I am hoping to get help
