Ever heard of the boiling frog? If you drop one in hot water, it jumps out. But if you put it in cool water and slowly turn up the heat? It doesn't notice. It just keeps adjusting until, well, you know how it ends 🫠 How does a boiling frog relate to learning? Well, when a learner starts to drift away a bit (a child, a student, a client, a member) they don't usually announce that drift. The pot of water just slowly gets warmer. These are some signs the water is getting warmer: - A bit less confidence. - A bit less curiosity. - A bit more "I don't know." - A bit more "I'll do it later." By the time we notice, we're already in the pot 😅 After 30+ years in classrooms (and now community building) I built a four-suit framework so anyone supporting a learner can spot the heat much earlier. ❤️Hearts, ♠️Spades, ♣️Clubs, ♦️Diamonds. Each one names a specific area where the temperature can rise. If that sounds like your kind of nerdy, both my communities are free: 💛 Raising EmpowerEd Learners → parents, homeschool parents and grandparents of primary-aged kids 💛 EmpowerEd → educators, homeschool parents, coaches and community creators Come check the water 😊
