Volume Balance without effects question...
Hello! I find it difficult to do a volume balance when the effects are disabled. I mix only my own instrumentals so I always put some effects etc. during the production stage because I don't like the dry sound because it's uninspiring to me during writing. Then I disable the effects, convert MIDI to Audio, and keep the effects disabled for the volume balance, because I see everyone doing volume balances before adding affects. I would prefer to do the volume balance with the effects on though, as it sounds better. Is there a reason I should not do this?

Clean EQ: Slate's Infinity EQ - because of the ease of use, very quick to add nodes, etc. It's dynamic & mid-side ability, developed in a different way technicially to sound more natural / Color EQ: UAD's Pultec collection - because of the way it makes the whole mix sound, also on individual tracks, just love it's warmth and how it makes the sound more open.

Always cut before you boost + You need to hear everything clearly (then nothing will stand out) + There is a "pro-chain" plugin chain (every track needs its own treatment)

LOVING the free Waveform Compressor!
Hey! I just wanted to say I absolutely love the free Waveform Compressor — especially the Optical setting for piano. Piano is often my lead instrument, and I usually struggle to compress it without losing transparency. This compressor keeps the dynamics controlled while still sounding natural. I also really appreciate how clearly it shows what’s happening — it’s helped me better understand the relationship between threshold and ratio, etc. Thank you for making this available!
