How did you know you were making progress in self improvement/mastery?

Hey everyone. Welcome to my free online community. I made this place for people to talk about the different problems, obstacles, and pitfalls you've had to overcome when making progress on self development. In this space I plan to allow free speech, as well as freedom of opinion. I only ask that we stay close to the important things, and to not make things too political, religious, or disrespectful towards other people.
