Priced myself out. Honest reflection.
Be honest with me. Is £4,000 too much for this: - 6 API integrations - n8n workflows - Google Sheets data layer - Data Studio dashboard - Hourly automated sync - £500/month retainer for ongoing support Context: This was a warm lead referred by an existing client so I thought I had enough trust to go straight in with a full proposal. Client bumped the call and mentioned the price was above what they were willing to spend right now. Reflecting on it, I think I jumped the gun. Should have done a smaller piece of work first to prove myself before going in with the full build. Lesson learned the hard way. But genuinely curious, what would you have charged for this scope? And would you have approached it differently from the start?

@Ahmad Ceesay Hi there! It comes down to ROI and how quickly they can see it. I start with a quick AI Readiness Audit, looking at what is automated versus manual, then highlight three opportunities. From there, I show a “quick win” with a clear before and after view, including time saved and process improvements. It takes about an hour as it’s a presentation at high level, and I also show them how to do it themselves. That is the hook. Most realise the gap and ask me to implement it anyway. That is when I introduce retainers. If they sign, I expand into a full audit and a 90-day AI roadmap, with support scaling by tier. Key point, do not lead with pricing. Keep it simple, show value first, and guide them through an easy, energising journey.
