Assess what's actually in front of you, not what you wish was in front of you. Was thinking of this and how it applies to being a music producer, but really it goes with everything in life. I tend to be a “less is more” thinker when I working on something. “How can I get the best results with a few moves as possible?” This thinking keeps me in constant assessment of the song. It usually helps me get done quicker and have more time for other things. In life it’s the same. Before you go adding new systems, stuff, and even people, you need to ask have you assessed all that you have. You actually may have all that you need and just need to nurture, maintain, or tweak what’s there. The world will always tell you to get more, but the more may already be in your hands.
