In this week's discussion, I talked about recognizing familiar tactics in new people — partners, coworkers, family, attorneys — without losing yourself in either direction. Sometimes we become hypervigilent and codependent with new people without even realizing it is happening. We might even push people away if they show any similarities with our spouse. On the flip side, new people can fulfill a hunger for some trait or behavior that we longed for in our marriage. This can easily cloud our judgment and result in missing red flags. So this week we talk about how mindfulness can help us identify these scenarios, and how the power of staying focused inward is incredibly important.
