There’s this word in Portuguese “Saudade”. We don’t have it in English. It is a noun related to “I miss you”. It’s the sensation of missing someone or thing. I remember I didn’t miss an opportunity I had to fly over from south Brazil to LA to join a Bible Study on Wednesday. I can’t overestimate how I shared what I got there around here. Mind Shift is being great at this this days, and the effort on community is being invested at Culver and Studio. I really had to rewatch these meetings today! Love you all. And amazed by a future of unstoppable growth of Mosaic global community.

I questioned myself at the end of the class: Is the concept of ‘prescriptive or descriptive’ applicable to the Torah books? I think I left the Q&As more capable of discussing stories I’d unconsciously try to skip (murder of people / animals / weird orders of destroying cities / slavery) and also more open to go easy on myself leading on times of crisis / risk / danger and follow what God tells me even when I don’t understand. I felt like there are a lot of ‘descriptive situations’ that follow a ‘prescriptive command’. It’s not always about ‘doing what was ordered to them’ as much as ‘obey as fast as possible even the hard commands from hearing God and see what happens’, with the privilege of reading what happened when they obeyed and disobeyed. Also obeying what is prescriptive all the time. And obeying who’s in charge in the community I’m at. It’s easier when there is no hearing dilemma.
