Snow day!
The US is about to be hit with a major winter storm! For some of us here, that means lots of time indoors with littles(and bigs) who may be experiencing some cabin fever! Drop below your favorite indoor activity to keep kids entertained during a major snow storm! (Keep in mind, it’s good for brains to be bored too!)

We have been feeling the cabin fever for sure. Weekends for us are about catching up, resting, and trying to find some fun inside. Playing with toys and coloring are our big go tos right now!
Anger is healthy!
Yep! You read that right! Anger is a healthy emotion. We are meant to feel anger! It’s there for a reason. The part that can be unhealthy is the way that we respond to anger. Most of us have never learned appropriate emotion, regulation skills. Some of us have been told that feeling no emotion is better than recognizing them. I’m here to tell you that is a lie! Regulating our emotions can be really tricky. But it’s a skill that everybody can build! Just like you build a muscle in a gym, building on your mindfulness and emotional regulation skills can help you respond in a healthy way to big feelings like anger. It’s also important that we work on these skills in ourselves so that we can help our children build these skills as well. What is a positive way that you can respond to anger? Would you be interested in having a course all about emotional regulation skills?

This is so good and so true!
You can’t pour from an empty cup!
So much easier said than done. It’s easy to say, let me take care of myself first. Let me fill my cup. Let me put my oxygen mask on first. But then real life hits and we are surrounded by chaos that seems to only calm with the energy and attention that we give. And then, at the end of the day, we are left with nothing more but an empty, exhausted shell. The most important thing I want you to remember here is, find a rhythm that fits you into the chaos. Find a moment somewhere, to give yourself a moment each day. We are going to learn a lot about my favorite topic in this community: mindfulness. It’s a super power. Tell me, what does mindfulness mean to you?

Mindfulness for me, means staying on top of my mental health so that the rest of my family has a more positive attitude. It truly goes back to the phrase “If mama ain’t happy, ain’t nobody happy.”
The dreaded 4th trimester!
I’m in the midst of this myself! Let me tell you, if it weren’t for support system, the 4th trimester would truly pull me under the waves. It’s heavy, it’s humbling, it’s healing, and it’s hell. And pretty much every other adjective in between. There’s so much about the 4th trimester we are still trying to learn, but something that’s very clear, we are on a hormonal down spiral after being in a hormonal high for 9 months. Not fun at all. For me, the biggest challenge has been keeping my mood in check. And making sure that I’m going the extra mile to feed my body well and give it rest when it needs. (Hah.. sleep.. have you heard of her?) What has been the most challenging part of the 4th trimester for you?

My anxiety and emotions were very out of whack with my second during the 4th trimester! I was not nice to my husband (whoops sorry it’s the hormones lol).
Welcome!
💬 Let’s Get to Know Each Other I’m so glad you’re here—and I’d love to learn more about you. This community was created to be a supportive, judgment-free space for parents and families, and that starts with connection. Parenting can feel isolating at times, and my hope is that no one here feels like they’re doing it alone. If you’re comfortable, introduce yourself in the comments and share a few of the following (answer as many or as few as you’d like): 1️⃣ What’s your name (or what you’d like to be called)? 2️⃣ How many kids do you have and what ages are they? 3️⃣ What’s one thing you’re currently loving about parenting? 4️⃣ What’s one area you’d love more support, tools, or encouragement in right now? 5️⃣ Just for fun: coffee, tea, or both? ☕🍵 There are no right or wrong answers here—only real ones. Thank you for being brave enough to show up, whether you’re sharing today or just quietly reading for now. You belong here, exactly as you are 🤍 I’m really looking forward to getting to know each of you and walking alongside you in this parenting journey. — Kayla Oh! And don’t forget to turn your notifications on so that you can stay plugged in!
