Love and opinions
โ€œLove is higher than opinion. If people love one another, the most varied opinions can be reconciled โ€” thus one of the most important tasks for humankind today and in the future is that we should learn to live together and understand one another. If this human fellowship is not achieved, all talk of development is empty.โ€ Rudolf Steiner from Steinerโ€™s lecture โ€œAt the Gates of Spiritual Scienceโ€ (Lecture 11, Stuttgart, 1 September 1906) in the Collected Works (GA 95).

A beautiful quote and invitation! And yet Steiner was always eager to point out the positioning of various opinions in his lectures and discuss right and wrong ways of looking at things, truthful and deceptive ways of understanding. "Love your enemy" came up in my personal dialogues coincidentally this week as well and it is clearly a daily practice rather than arrival. I really gave it a try by watching all the Davos speeches of last week and loving the speakers despite my various assessments of their propagandistic tools? ๐Ÿ™ƒ THAT was a trip for me...who needs psychedelics when we can attempt to love the enemy and reconcile all opinions of humanity today with LOVE? ๐Ÿ˜… That has got to be the ultimate...
Impromptu coffee & chat sessions?
Hi all, A few people on this platform are doing these impromptu "coffee and questions sessions". It's just like jumping on a zoom call (with or without a hot drink!) and having an informal chat about spiritual matters. Just wanted to find out if that was something you'd be interested in? (just while I'm still getting this 6 week challenge organised). If so, what time of day works for you? Please Let me know what time zone you're in. Thank you! Mick

Maybe create a poll or propose possible times and we vote? Or just do a POPUP announcement and whoever can make it will make it... spontaneity approach :)

Spiritual Development Support in the New Year
Hi everyone, I'm looking to run 6 week, Spiritual Development Support Sessions in the New Year, with an emphasis on Rudolf Steiner's 6 exercises for helping us to get control of our own thinking, harmonise our emotions and strengthen the will. Please let me know in the comments if this is something that would interest you. Thank you! Warm wishes Mick

@Mick Young That works!
a thank you...
Thank you to all of those who joined us today on the free Spiritual Development Session! I especially enjoyed the insights and experience our attendees shared. From Buddhist backgrounds to "Heartfulness" meditation and excellent questions regarding the trinity of Thinking, Feeling and Willing....and their connection with Steiner's work. This was a bit of a test run to see how it went, who showed up and how the Skool platform works. I'll run another session soon. For those who attended, please let me know in the comments below: - what you thought of the session - what worked and what didn't - how the session might be improved Best wishes Mick

I appreciated this first time opportunity to come together in online "circle". I thought the ratio of introduction (lecture) to discussion was just perfect. My reason for joining this online platform is to converse with others curious about (and informed by) anthroposophy, but do it in a more intimate container than facebook groups, where I am a member and sometimes turned off by the flavor of discussions. I have no "expectations" other than meaningful connection and insightful conversation and learning. I think it is good to be inclusive of other spiritual lineages but also take little steps together over time to understand anthroposophy and its relevance to this current day and age. I am not a fan of dogmatic thinking and I think thus far this group feels balanced in this regard. Steiner is not just for "anthro experts" and high initiates, he has a powerful body of work that can help all of us at all levels of spiritual development. I look forward to more topics and discussions.
Will vs Surrender
Did Steiner write on that? The interplay between the will forces (intending, aspiring, applying, pursuing) and the more receptive states. I find it still quite trendy in spiritual jargon (New Age primarily) to speak of "surrender" and the need for surrender and fair enough but what we are surrendering to? The "flow" could well be the status quo and the programmed societal narratives of control often times. The path of least resistance is not necessarily the higher path, the moral path. On that subject, another philosophical question that has always had a grip on me: free will or destiny? It could be paraphrased as old karma or new karma? We create new karma every day and yet there are fated events and consequences all derived from past karma. I'll pause here as too much to ponder ๐Ÿ˜œ Any reflections welcome!

@Sue Bozzo Hi Sue, thank you SO MUCH for your comment! Yes Steiner can seem super intellectual, dense and brainy for most people, even though his whole body of work is essentially a map of esoteric knowledge and wisdom and profoundly mystical. I personally know my feelings to be important messengers and do not categorize them as lesser than thoughts. I do understand and agree with what @Mick Young said during the live chat about feelings being even more fluid than thought and thus can seem more "elusive" to capture, but as an artistic soul, I find that both thoughts and feelings can carry deep in-sight. At the same time both can be unreliable or even deceptive :) I am sure you can relate as far as being ultra sensitive due to your psychic abilities, yes? On the will and surrender dance, yes! A perpetual reciprocal relationship is at play: reflection and action, action and reflection. I do love the concept of the "receptive will" that was brought up re the Bastiaan interview and I will look into it deeper.
