Vanlifer after 10 years of dreaming about it!
Hi! My name is Laura, I'm from Spain and I've been living in my van since May 2025. I've been dreaming about it for 10 years tho, and I'm so happy to say I finally did it hahaha. I spent all those years so focused on achieving this dream and side questing studies, making money, etc. that I mostly kept to myself, but now I'm more excited than ever to meet like-minded people and make new friends! So happy TVLN exists hahaha So nice to meet you all! PD: this is a video I did about my journey finding the van buying it and building it, it's in Spanish tho, since I teach Spanish on YouTube, but it has subtitles!

Color Challenge/Game Proposal!
Choose a color, go out for a walk (or several walls) and take pictures of the things you find in your color of choice! Choose the ones you like the most, make a collage and upload it here! Extra points for cuteness! Hahaha I chose red! (pretty easy, I'll go for a harder one next time) ❤️ Maybe we can all start with red and then do another color! :)

Getting my first van. What advice would you give?
Getting my first van at the end of this month. I am on a tight budget and super worried I will end up buying something that isn't ok. Looking at a transit connect or T4 something like that. What's your advice for things to check when buying? This is all very new to me.

Hm, for rust look the bottom of the car, like the subframe, specially of it's in places where it snows or it's near the sea side they are more likely to have rust, look at the edge at the very bottom of the van as well. That can be rusty. Look around the windows and seals, the wheel arches and lips, if the interior has any panelling or plastic floor make sure to look under it (some friends bought a van that had perfect walls and then they took the floor panel off the metal was 100% rust). Check out on the internet a list of the maintenance recommend for the mileage of the van. And ask the seller if that maintainable has been done. And then some tips: ask if the timing system has a timing belt (made with rubber, has to be replaced every 60k-100k miles) or a timing chain, made with metal and can last the life of the engine. If it has gears, make sure the gears change as smooth as possible (not too lose, not too snappy) and DON'T make any unusual noises when doing so and (this happened to me and I had to change it) make sure that your clutch is soft and not hard. If it's unusually hard when you step on it it means it needs to be replaced it it will break and also affect the gears. Ask for a cold start test, ask seller not to pre warm it to see if it turns on on the first try, if it has any rattles, smokes, rev it to see if nothing sounds weird. Check for bumps and things like that and get a report from the internet by entering the license plane number (this is possible in Spain for like 7€, idk about the UK) where you can check the previous crashes as well as if it's a stolen vehicle. Check nothing under the hood makes any unusual noises, and make sure you don't se any leaks. Check the oil dipstick, if the oil is thick sludge, its poorly maintained (ask for the last time/how many miles ago the oil was changed) the coolant should be clean, not brown or moly, apparently if it's milky, it's mixed with oil Wich means it's had a gasket problem. And idk, I think you could ask chatgpt for a nice list of things to look out for when buying a second hand van, maybe it will give you a good compilation of things to check out for that will give you piece of mind.

@Michelle Szpak no problem! ☺️☺️ I was also told to rent to make sure I made the right decision and that I liked van life before going for it, and I ignored that advice and followed my gut, I knew what I wanted, a d renting is so expensive it's not worth it at all in my opinion! Even more so when you are on a budget! Best of luck! Can't wait for the announcement whenever you do buy it!

My vacuum, gosh I love it

Oh I invested those coins on a Dyson and I use it for everything HAHAHAHAH every day, several times a day. I was debating on this or a corded vacuum, and I'm so glad I went for this one. If it has a cord I would never use it (or at least not as much as I do the Dyson, it's the cheapest Dyson of them all).
Greetings😁
Hello, I'm Daniela and I'm from Portugal/Luxembourg. I travel part-time in my small camper, a Peugeot Partner 2015, which I bought in 2024. My very first vehicle😌 My plan is to travel full-time in Europe. I've already spent the winter in Portugal and have been to the United Kingdom as well. Some of my hobbies are reading, swimming, photography, crochet, hiking and I really want to try kayaking and climbing! I have met-up with 3 TVLN members and am looking forwards to more meetups!🌍🔥
Greetings😁
