I’m Very Curious 🤔
Hey everyone! This thought just passed my mind and figured I’d get a conversation going on it. As a wedding photographer, I’ve had moments where the clients have asked for the RAW photos and I know many people have asked if those are “available” before the photos have been taken. My question to ya’ll is why… why Do we think they actually ask for them? Do they have the software to veiw and edit them, do they have friends who edit them or is it something they think they need to ask for because of social media ect. (I could go on about the whys) Besides the obvious understanding that if they don’t like the looks/edits or just want all the photos. That I get but still what are they going to do with them or what do they do with them? Ps: I’ve had very particular client that really wanted them and ended up printing allll the raws inside the grooms suit jacket 😅🙈 Curious on everyone’s ideas, thoughts, knowledge, experience and opinions!

I think most clients don't even know what RAWs are. They just are afraid they won't like the edits and view RAWs as the "Unedited" version. Not realizing that they're an incomplete product.

@Ola Duminuco yes I agree most people just don't know and usually they don't mean it to be insulting to a photographer's work! That's cool that you offer the "straight out of camera" version!
What would you do?
I know different photographers operate differently, so here is today's question: What would you do if a client requested you not share their photos anywhere? Not post or put them on your website? Do you cater to the client who is in the photos? Or do you stand by your rights as the photographer? I know many photographers have contracts and other guidelines set in place, and many have different opinions on this so I would love to hear how you like to run your business (if you're on the business side of things)

a good question to ask yourself when getting started (and always) is: "what is my intention with this photo? what story am I telling and am trying to show in the photo v sharing with words?" If you're clear on what you're trying to do with the photo, it will bring clarity on how to shoot your subject!
Random bits and pieces...
Some out of cam shots that I like. If you zoom in, you'll see the specks of dust, crumbs and even a fingerprint on the knife. 🤦🏽‍♂️ But still "crispy" as @Tiahna L put it. ;) 1) Mizio's street food, Rome. Their in house brew. 2) Tsingtao Chinese lager, China (obviously) 3) MEPRA cutlery, Brescia 4) Random Donuts for a café near my house. 5) Aigner cologne shot from a few years back. Sadly they used a different shot, but I like this one as I got the chrome lit perfectly. No reflections

these look SO GOOD! wow I wanna learn how to shoot glass!
Hello and thanks for letting me join your group.
I am a 53 year old lady who has loved photography since I was about 15. I bought my first digital camera in 2007 and have owned three now. I use a Nikon D750 now and I LOVE IT!! I really don't have a niche', I am just trying to find a way to make some money shooting photos. I look forward to hearing from you all. Thanks!

Hi Kristina! What's been the best way you've found to make money off photography? I know some people have great momentum taking family photos or personal portraits. have you had any luck?

@Kristina Dummermuth Product photography is a great route! and anything new is so fun because there is so much to learn! do you have specific products in mind? I know @David Vendryes was talking on our livestream the other day about photographing glass products and it seems like such a cool skill!
