3 contributions to AI Capacity for Nonprofits
Sneak peek: the tool I built for Friday's webinar broke. Here's how I fixed it.
My teleprompter broke three days before this Friday's webinar. Instead of digging through code, I talked to the AI in plain English and watched it find the root cause. Full build story here, and this is exactly the kind of thing we'll do live on Friday. [YouTube link] Want to build your own? Two attachments below. The PDF walks you through it step by step. The .md file is the shortcut: fill in the three blanks at the top, hand the whole file to Claude Code or Codex, and say "build this for me."

Twelve of you are already here. Let's actually meet.
It's been a few months since I posted the welcome message for this community, and only one of you has broken the ice so far (thank you, @Catalin Tutunaru for going first). That's on me, not you. A community doesn't build itself just because people joined it. So let's actually start. If you're one of the ten people who joined and haven't introduced yourself yet, this is me asking you directly: @John Patrick @Tasia Wilson @Pedro Gomez @LeeAnn Taylor @John Zoren Gutierrez @Jameson Chua @Gretchen Thomas @Tiffany Grant @Kenya Hendrix @Marva Murray Drop a comment below with: - What you do (your role, your org's mission, or both) - The one operational thing that's eating the most time or energy right now - What "AI actually helping" would look like for you, concretely, not the hype version I'll personally reply to every single one. This is a small room right now, which means your voice here actually gets heard, not lost in a feed of thousands. That won't always be true. Use it while it is. Welcome (again) to The Calm Infrastructure Lab.
Welcome to the The Calm Infrastructure Lab
You did not come here to learn another tool. You came here to build something that lasts. Welcome to The Calm Infrastructure Lab, the only community built specifically for nonprofit leaders who are ready to integrate AI into their operations without the chaos, the overwhelm, or the hype. This is a space for strategic implementation, not just information. Whether you are stabilizing your internal systems, building smarter workflows, or preparing your organization for sustainable growth, you are in the right place. What You Will Find Here This is a working community for nonprofit leaders who want to implement AI thoughtfully. You will find: General Discussion, your questions about nonprofit operations, AI readiness, and getting started. Wins & Breakthroughs, real stories from members implementing AI and actually seeing results. Implementation Help, tactical support when you are stuck on a workflow or decision. Grant Writing AI, focused resources for using AI in proposal development (one of your biggest time drains). Board & Reporting, how to explain your AI initiatives to governance and show impact. Templates & Workflows, ready to use resources including prompts, checklists, processes, and frameworks. How the Leveling System Works Every community member starts at Level 1. As you participate, asking questions, sharing wins, giving feedback, and using resources, you will earn points that unlock new levels. Higher levels come with access to exclusive resources, templates, and deeper implementation guides. The point: you grow as you contribute. Give before you ask, and you will move quickly. Your First Step Introduce yourself below. Tell us: What is your role in your nonprofit? What is your biggest operational pain point right now? The thing that keeps you up at night. What would AI need to do to actually move the needle for you? We learn best from each other. I am here, your fellow members are here, and we are all building this together. Let us build calm, capable infrastructure.

@Catalin Tutunaru thank you for being the first to introduce yourself here, that matters more than you know for a young community. Grant applications eating your team's time is exactly the kind of drain AI should be absorbing first: high volume, repetitive structure, low creative variance per instance. If you're willing, I'd love to hear more about your grant-writing workflow specifically: are you using AI to draft first passes, structure sections, or mine your own past applications for reusable language? That's exactly the kind of detail that would help other members here see themselves in your example. Welcome to the Lab.
