Have a life too!! Have an outlet.
Having hobbies outside of sport isn’t just a nice extra. It's necessary 1. When your whole identity is tied to basketball, every bad game or injury hits harder. That’s how athletes spiral. Having something else—music, business, studying, content creation—gives you another lane where you can win, grow, and feel progress. 2. Your brain needs a break from constant competition mode. A hobby switches your mindset out of pressure and evaluation, which actually improves focus when you come back to training. 3. Burnout isn’t just from training load—it’s from monotony and emotional fatigue. If every day is gym → practice → game → repeat, you eventually lose edge. Hobbies keep life feeling bigger than the sport, which paradoxically keeps you fresher in it. 4. A relaxed, balanced athlete often performs better than an obsessive, tense one. When you’re not overthinking basketball 24/7 (Same goes for nutrition), your instincts are sharper. You’ve probably noticed your best games come when you’re mentally free. 6. Teammates come and go. A hobby can connect you with people outside the basketball bubble, which is huge for perspective and stability.

What is Hoopers Amnesia?
"You miss 100% of the shots you don't take." "Id rather go 0/10 than 0/0" - Kobe Bryant "Memory of a goldfish, Confidence of a killer." It’s the ability to: - Miss a shot → not dwell on it - Turn the ball over → reset mentally - Get scored on → lock back in defensively Short memory = better performance You’ll hear coaches say things like: “Shooters need amnesia.” OR "Next play! Next play!" Because if you keep thinking about your last miss, it affects: - Confidence - Decision-making - Aggression For the rest of the game...

Underfueling or Overeating?
This is one of the hardest things to get right as an athlete—and most get it wrong by relying on scale weight + feel, instead of performance markers. Instead of mirror checking and "Am I eating too much or too little?” Ask yourself: 1. Am I performing well? - Energy in training? - Explosiveness? - Endurance? - Strength? 2. Am I recovering well? - Soreness decreasing? - Injuries settling? 3. Is my weight trending where I want it to? - Moving slowly toward the goal? If weight is dropping as you want, but performance is dipping, then you're sacrificing one for the other and might need to up the eating. If Weight is steadily declining or rising as per your goals, and you find yourself performing better and recovering well... There's the Sweet Spot!!
