The Hidden Risks of AI in Cybersecurity
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is rapidly transforming the cybersecurity landscape — both as a powerful defense tool and a potential vulnerability. 🔍 The Double-Edged Sword of AI AI enhances real-time threat detection, automates incident responses, and helps anticipate attacks using predictive modeling. However, the same tech is being weaponized by bad actors. 🚨 Top Risks to Watch Out For: - Adversarial Attacks – AI models can be manipulated by poisoned data or prompts. - Data Privacy Leaks – Poorly secured AI systems may unintentionally expose sensitive data. - Bias & Compliance Violations – Improperly trained AI can lead to biased outcomes, violating GDPR, CPRA, or the AI Act. 🧰 Action Steps: 1. Perform regular AI model audits 2. Monitor inputs/outputs for adversarial behavior 3. Use compliant data sets during training 4. Bottom Line: AI in cyber is a must-have — but only with tight compliance and oversight.

In fraud and debit card disputes, we’re already seeing how AI can be both a huge asset and a risk. If models are trained on biased or incomplete data, it can impact fraud decisions, claims outcomes, and customer trust. The callout around data privacy & compliance is especially important because one leak or bad decision can have real financial and emotional consequences for customers.

For me data security comes first. In bank fraud, if the data isn’t protected, nothing else matters because compliance and ethics fall apart after a breach. Secure the data first, then build compliant and ethical AI on top of that foundation.

I’m not directly in cybersecurity compliance, I’m in bank debit card disputes and fraud protection. I’m excited to learn how to strengthen my skills. Compliance, fraud and security overlap in some ways. My goal is to protect customers better because it’s heartbreaking to see customers losing thousands of dollars
