I've found that people who aren't naturally concerned with their overall wellness need to be at their own, personal rock- bottom before they're open to listening to anything that goes against conventional nutritional guidelines. Those adamant believers, to be blunt, are a waste of time in regards to opening their minds. Even with evidence, they'll only believe those with letters after their names and titles before them. Both sides need to be willing to discuss for any hope of opening minds and those set in their beliefs aren't usually even close to willing.
Thankfully ever since I switched over to carnivore. I donβt need to count any calories or weigh my food. This has been sustainable for me. But is this still a thing of counting calories ? Does our bodies have a calorie count ?
I, unfortunately, need to not only track my protein but keep myself at a significant deficit from my TDEE to burn my body fat instead of dietary. I'm sensitive to protein, which means weighing my steaks, every day and if I'm under my daily "allowance", I add a few eggs to my food log to bring me up to my appropriate grams. Exceeding my necessary protein by more than 7-10 grams exhausts me, raises my glucose and kicks me out of ketosis. I'm hoping my body will eventually heal to the point that I won't need to weigh and track.
@Lindsey Morales That's great, that you've healed that much! I follow1.2 grams per kg of ideal body weight. Puts me at 68 so as long as I stay under 75 and 80/20 macros, I'm good!
I get a lot of discussion on βitβs too expensiveβ to eat just meat and the quality of meat isnβt good so best to stay away from it. Have you guys come across this discussion as well?
Endlessly! That and questioning meat fatigue. I eat chuck, every day and I LOVE it! I cut it into 1" steaks, salt it generously just before letting it come to room temp. 3-4 minutes on each side in cast iron and BOOM! Poor man's ribeye! I'm also a salt snob so it's never boring! Markets are usually $4.99-6.99/lb. My butcher only takes in local cows and I'm paying $8.25/lb for a boneless roast, the morning it was butchered. My daughter eats picanha or sirloin steak every day for $11.99/lb and my other half loves his grassfed 80/20 ground for $7.99/lb When all you eat is meat and stop buying all the stuff humans aren't meant to eat, it's no pricier. I just paid $150 to feed all 3 of us for a week and we raise our own chickens for corn-free, soy-free eggs.
