Everyone needs boundaries but kids will autism (really every kiddo) need boundaries that work for them. Mama’s have to know and understand their kid’s currency and understand their own emotional regulation system before setting struck boundaries across the board. 💜🌸💜
Advocacy
What was the hardest thing you had to do to advocate for your child?

@Kelli Bennett Hubbard that is incredibly hard. My daughter was 5 and in the hospital with rotavirus. They also kept poking, she was dehydrated so it was very hard to get a draw. I finally said, you have one more shot, then we are through for the day. We can try twice tomorrow. I set the boundary so my little knew what to expect and could manage her anxiety 😥 sort of, not really. It also required the nurses to come to the table serious about getting it done fast and right. I think that gives everyone more confidence and the ability to self regulate.
Teaching how to feel
I realize when people have autism / neuro divergent They don't know how to manage their emotions. Some of them don't know the different emotions and how to exhibit them. Teaching how to exhibit and manage emotion is very hard.

@Kelli Bennett Hubbard such an interesting topic. Add the generational messages and we are all in full translation mode. I try to be an intergenerational translator for parents because we hear our parents voice and values, but we have our own plan for parenting based on our needs and values in a more modern world 🌎, and then we are literally talking to the future (our kids) about what they are experiencing in the present. It gets quite confusing emotionally until we actually see all the voices in the room. I don’t even know if that makes sense to anyone. 🤪🌸
