thank you for making this post because I am working on creating a resource of communities that you can do promos in, and I am going to add this to my resource list.
Mr. Promo Purchased An Island.
Mr. Promo purchased an island where the people who'd shown up for Promotion Hub since the beginning could be shown up for in return. Not treated like customers. Treated like the reason any of this existed at all. A private island wasn't the plan at first. He looked at retreat centers. Boutique hotels he could rent out entirely for a weekend. A ranch in Montana that would have worked fine, if he was being honest with himself. None of it felt big enough for what he had in mind. So, he started looking at islands instead — working through a broker who specialized in exactly this kind of thing. Twenty-two islands, over four months. Some too developed, resorts already built and polished, missing the kind of place he could make his own. Some too remote, no way to get supplies in reliably. One had a freshwater problem that would have made it impossible to sustain guests long-term. Another came with zoning restrictions that would have taken years to untangle. Then came the twenty-third listing. A resort once stood there, the notes said, though it had been abandoned for years — no reservations, no upkeep, nothing but a name in an old file. Whatever it used to be, the listing said, it wasn't anymore. Mr. Promo flew out to see it in person. He didn't know yet that "abandoned" wasn't quite the right word. He stood at the edge of a jungle path in a suit already wrong for the humidity, holding a folder that said, in plain legal language, that he now owned everything in front of him. Through the tree line, half-swallowed by vines, stood the shape of something that used to be a resort — a row of villas with roofs caved in at the corners, a pool long since turned green and thick with fallen leaves, a reception building missing half its windows. Whatever this place used to be, nature had been taking it back for years. Then he saw the smoke. A thin line of it curled up from somewhere past the ruined pool, steady, like a fire that had been burning the same way for a long time. "Hello?" he called out. Footsteps. Unhurried. A man stepped out from between two crumbling walls, holding a fish on a line and a machete in the other hand, looking at Mr. Promo like he was the one who didn't belong. "You're standing on my garden," the man said. Mr. Promo looked down. Neat rows of something green ran along the old pool deck, staked with driftwood, growing right out of the cracked concrete. "I bought this island," Mr. Promo said. "Congratulations." The man walked past him toward one of the old villas — patched roof, a door hanging on one working hinge, smoke rising from a fire pit built where a patio used to be. "Careful where you step. Some of the floors don't hold anymore." "You're living in the resort." "Wasn't using it for anything else." The man ducked inside without waiting for a response. Mr. Promo followed. Inside, the villa was half-ruin, half-home — a section of roof patched with palm leaves and salvaged tile, a cot built from what looked like old lounge furniture, shelves lined with jars of something preserved. "How long have you—" "Long enough." "What happened here? To the resort?" "Was here when I got here. Nobody left instructions." The man set the fish down by the fire. "Name's Nomo, if you're asking." "Mr. Promo." "Fitting." Nomo almost smiled. "You planning on kicking me out of my own island?" "No," Mr. Promo said, looking around at the garden, the patched roof, the small proof of a life built entirely out of what other people had abandoned. "I think I need you more than you need me." Nomo didn't answer that right away. He just turned the fish over the fire, unbothered, like he'd heard bigger promises before and none of them had lasted. "We'll see," he said.

That's looking like a pretty sweet space.
