Was there in person - you nailed it!
Encouraging Words from Matt Haig's new book: The Comfort Book
In my morning reading, these words from Matt struck me as so relevant for our group: Language gives us the power to voice our experience, to reconnect with the world, and to change our own and other people's lives. "There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you", wrote Angelou. Silence is pain. But it is pain with an exit route. Words are seeds. Language is a way back to life. And it is sometimes the most vital comfort we have.

I've attached a good overview of the different types and generations of assessments. Here are some things I share with my clients: 1. Humans are complex, and no one tool can completely describe you! 2. Most are "self-reported," and if you are really self-aware, that's great. If not, it may not be great data. 3. Some are well validated and tested, and others are not. 4. DiSC falls into the "self-reported, therefore may not be accurate or valid" category. It has existed since the 1940s, and there are hundreds of assessments available. 5. However, it is a very simple framework that people can understand and use easily, so I often use it with my clients. 6. DiSC is also about the behaviors you (and others) exhibit - and we can change behaviors. Understanding the behaviors of ourselves and others can help us get better results and build stronger relationships.

I like to use a DiSC product from Wiley called Catalyst Everything DiSC. If you would like me to purchase an assessment for you, I'm happy to do that at my cost, which is $75. You can learn more here. If you would like to do a free DiSC, I researched options for a client and recommended the one below. Know that every free DiSC profile is free because they are wanting to sell you something. Most are very poorly designed as well. My recommendation is to use Professional Leadership Institute https://professionalleadershipinstitute.com This was the most professionally presented one. It’s well constructed and the report is light but helpful. The only “up sell” was the last two pages of the report. You actually see your responses to each of the ranking questions, which is helpful. It’s named an assessment, not a test. It does not assign you a fixed style but shows the strengths of each style, which is congruent with the message we want leaders to walk away with.

Another life hack, I use it for trip planning. For example: Plan a five day itinerary for a trip to Orlando and Disney World for 5 days with my three grandchildren, ages 10, 10 and 13.
👋🏼Hello! Let's get to know each other in this thread.
Here's a quick 3-part intro you can copy-paste to type in below...or respond by video! No need to overthink it—have fun with it! 1. My Book - or Book Idea: Just a sentence or two—even if it’s still fuzzy! 2. My Bigger Business Vision: Where you want your work to take you in the next few years. 3. One “weird” thing about me that’s totally unrelated to business: (We love pets, hobbies, travel dreams, odd skills, whatever!) Can’t wait to hear from you!

1. My Book - or Book Idea: Working Title: Flip the Switch - how either/or thinking locks us in and how unlocking our dualistic thinking opens us up to better solutions and a fuller life 2. My Bigger Business Vision: Bigger impact and less time working 3. One “weird” thing about me that’s totally unrelated to business: I am a worm farmer
