Introduction
Hello. I’m Kitara, California native currently living in South Carolina. I am post menopausal and haven’t felt “normal” for several years. Menopause hit literally hot and heavy when I was also in the middle of being my mom’s full time caregiver. The mental and physical stress became too much and she now lives in a memory care residence, but my body is still in fight or flight, and I am currently on a suboptimal BHRT so I am not getting the full benefits of BHRT (will be changing soon). I had my dna tested to see where I stand with different markers like how my body eliminates toxins or if I store excess estrogen for example, but I am at the point where I feel extensive bloodwork is needed to pair that with the genetic markers to really help me customize a plan that is broad enough in real data to truly be effective. The end goal is I just want to feel good in my body again. Glad to be here.
What is the ONE thing a doctor has said to you that never sat right? 💬
We ask because we have heard a lot in this community. And some of it deserves to be said out loud. "Your labs are normal." "It's probably just stress." "This is what happens at your age." "Have you tried eating less?" "Have you considered that it might be anxiety?" We hear these from women who are clinically literate, who have done their research, who have been demonstrating careers and households while feeling like a diminished version of themselves. You were not wrong to push back. You were not being difficult. You were right that something was being missed. And the fact that you are in this community means part of you never stopped looking for the right answer. Drop yours below. One sentence. What is the thing that was said to you that you knew was not the full story?

@Michelle Dabkowski That’s awful and highly unprofessional. So sorry you had to experience that.

“Everything came back fine and there is no evidence of a stroke but I can’t let you leave without a diagnosis so we’re going to call it a TIA.”
