"The AI everyone's using was not built with your story in mind." There is a culturally curated LLM built specifically to reflect the history, culture, and experiences of Black and Brown people. It's called Latimer. Most popular LLMs were built without meaningful representation of Black and Brown history, culture, and contributions, so their outputs often reflect that gap. The founder's goal is to shift AI from "one-size-fits-all" to "one for all." Built by serial entrepreneur John N. Pasmore and his company FutureSum.ai, Latimer is a culturally curated LLM that deeply embeds the historical and cultural perspectives of Black and Brown people into its AI experience. Named for Lewis Latimer, a brilliant Black inventor whose contributions to the telephone and the light bulb are often overlooked and uncredited, this platform exists to change what AI knows and how it shows up. Here's what makes it different: Latimer uses a RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) model backed by a proprietary vector database that includes licensed content from the New York Amsterdam News, academic textbooks, the Library of Congress, HBCUs, and original historical documents. Before mindfulness apps, guided meditations, and “take a deep breath” reminders… We had the backseat of a car, no phone, no tablet, no Wi-Fi, and nothing but the highway, our thoughts, and a Capri Sun fighting for its life in the cooler. 😂 Our version of peace was staring out the window for four hours, pretending we were in a music video while our parents played the same cassette tape over and over. And somehow… we survived. No entertainment. No charger. No snacks unless somebody packed them. Just vibes, daydreams, and that one sibling touching your side of the seat. Gen X was built different. We didn’t call it mindfulness. We called it: “Don’t ask me if we’re there yet again.” 😭 Who remembers the lunchbox and Thermos era?
