The CIB Is Now an Online Knowledge Base The Candidate Information Booklet (CIB) is the official guide for candidates pursuing or renewing the Certified Professional Midwife (CPM) certificate. The CIB now lives online as a collection of individual articles, so you can go straight to the topic you need instead of searching a long PDF document. What is changing - The PDF is retired. Any PDF copy of the CIB, whether you saved it last month or in 2021, is no longer accurate. Please reference the online version. - Each topic has its own article. Articles are organized by title and category. - Every article shows when it was last updated. Check the update date to confirm you are reading the most current information. - Links stay the same. When NARM updates an article, the link does not change. The content behind it is replaced, so a bookmark will always take you to the current version. - Updates happen faster. NARM staff can publish a change as soon as it is approved, so the knowledge base is the source of truth at any given moment. - How to use it 1. Go to the knowledge base and browse by category, or look for the article that matches your question. 2. Check the "last updated" date at the bottom of the article. 3. Bookmark or share the article link instead of saving a copy. A saved copy goes out of date. The link does not. 4. If you cannot find what you need, contact us at [email protected]. What is new We expect updates to the CIB in the coming months, including changes related to test development. Each one will be reflected in the knowledge base and shared as described below.

NO RESEARCHING YET. Let use our future midwife hats. I was at a hospital birth yesterday of a term mom being induced for hypertension. They gave her Procardia mid-labor. You don’t have to be familiar with the drug, but you should know it acts on the smooth muscles, which is why it’s used for hypertension. Because of this mechanism, it’s also used to stop preterm labor. I do not believe they provided her informed consent. They just handed her a pill and said “this is for your blood pressure”. Based on what little information we have here about Procardia, what are some possible concerns she may have needed to be informed of before taking? WRONG ANSWERS ARE WELCOME HERE! Procardia is outside of our scope. Physiology is not 😉

Hello Friends, After a lot of thought, I've decided to discontinue my regular LIVE sessions. However, the Study Nest will remain open. I want you to know I've truly enjoyed teaching and connecting with each of you LIVE, but I feel pre-recorded and edited content will be the most effective approach moving forward. My goal has always been to create a practical, experience-based resource for student and new midwives...one you can return to again and again throughout your training and early years in practice. I believe keeping the content here organized and easy to navigate is the best way to do that. Over the coming weeks, I'll continue uploading and organizing more than 30 recorded lectures, creating two levels of exams for students preparing for their NARM, uploading new unseen recordings and interviews, and participating in the discussion forums. I'm excited about this next chapter and the opportunity to build an even stronger educational resource for midwives. Current Standard members will continue to have access through June 30, 2026. At that time, the Standard Membership will be discontinued as we transition to a single Premium Membership. I hope you'll stick around for what's next.
