Hello Hannah and Tom, I love the center on communication. This is so important! What I often see is that leaders do not clearly communicate the company's vision and how that breaks down into the person's role. Lack of clarity causes confusion. The leaders need to stop and check in with their team. Does the team know the vision? Does the team know how their job helps the company achieve that vision? Clarity in communication is key.
Don’t Confuse Your Goals With Your Purpose
As September comes to a close, I’ve been thinking a lot about the difference between our purpose and our goals. We’re often told to write down our goals, stay focused, and keep pushing until we achieve them. And I believe in that — to an extent. Because goals can change. They can shift. They can evolve. They can be delayed. They can even take us in a completely different direction than we expected. But your purpose is different. Your purpose is rooted in your gifts, your skills, and the abilities that seem to follow you wherever you go. For me, my purpose is to use my voice to inspire and empower people with the skills they need to transcend the limitations of their mind and become someone of high value. That purpose is why I create content, host LinkedIn Lives, speak, teach, train, and now build community. The method may change. The goal may change. But the purpose stays the same. And I think that’s the reminder I’m taking with me into October: Your purpose is rooted in your gifts. Your goals are allowed to change. As you wind down the month of September, I challenge you to answer the following questions: What is your purpose? And what goal are you currently working toward? Share it in the comments.

Hannah, these are great points. Goals can and should change when they are not in line with our purpose. Sometimes there will be goals that we must accomplish associated within our work environment, but our personal goals are just that. Personal- adapt these to what is most important in your life. Adapt these to the unique gifts and abilities you have to bless and to help others. So very happy that you are taking dedicated steps and direction to the things most important to you!
