Primer Question
Best primer suggestions for 75 year old lath and plaster walls and ceiling. One room mold stain on ceiling. Another room, soot stain on wall and ceiling from candles. Ceilings are hand troweled with individual patterns for each room. Going to paint a flat vintage white/ivory. I already assume I’ll have to purchase a couple of different primers to accommodate each problem. Thanks!
Restoration
Restoring our 1951 California Spanish style ranch back to 1940s/50s interior paint colors. Dilemma, just discovered that the interior doors appear to be a possible mahogany or maple veneer that’s been painted over a thousand times. Only 2 to 3x by us (we’re the second owners of the house and very unmotivated lazy painters). The door trim is unfinished wood under all the paint (typical 2” reed and flute of the era). Question, would you bother to take it down to the original veneer, or sand, patch, sand, prime and paint again. Did I mention the entry is a room of doors all unto itself? 2 regular closets, water heater closet, furnace closet, hallway door, and pocket door to kitchen + front door = 7 doors total as soon as you walk into the house. All opinions welcome, rude ones also (only if they make me laugh though).

@Jeremy Vassar that is how I’m leaning. I think stripping the kitchen cabinets down to bare wood is going to take its toll on me so the rest of the doors in the house can pretty much go take a flying leap at this point. What’s another layer of paint? Ha!
