Day 5 Challenge: For today, WINSDAY, Adopt the Sweet 16 Mindset!
🚀 Day 5 Challenge: The 16-Year WIN Mindset 🚀 We’re five days into the March Forward Savings Challenge—and today, we’re thinking LONG-TERM. 💡 What if I told you that just 16 years of maxing out your Roth IRA or Roth 401(k) could set you up for a six-figure or even seven-figure future? Have a look at the attached chart that shows the results of maxing out your Roth IRA @ $7,500/year or Roth 401(k) at $23K/year with a moderate but historically accurate, annualized rate of return of 7.5%…That could be YOU* in 16 years!! It’s not magic—it’s MATH. Let’s break it down: ✅ Max a Roth IRA ($7K/year) for 16 years at 7.5% ROR = ~$218,800 from a total contribution of $112K(!) ✅ Max a Roth 401(k) ($23K/year) for 16 years at 7.5% ROR = ~$718,900 from a total contribution of $368K(!) 💥 And that’s without adding another penny after Year 16! Let compound growth do the heavy lifting from there. 🔥 Your Challenge Today: 1️⃣ Imagine yourself 16 years from now. Would Future You be thanking you for starting or increasing contributions today? 2️⃣ Drop a Week 1 WIN in the comments! (A small victory from this challenge—less spending, more saving, a mindset shift, progress on the bathroom scale.) Let’s stack small wins into BIG results. Your financial future starts NOW! #MarchForwardSavings #RothIRA #Roth401k #FutureYou #WealthBuilding *Bonus exercise…How do become YOU X 2 and DOUBLE the size of your portfolio? Put a ring on it and get MARRIED already, will you!?! And try really hard to STAY THAT WAY! **For kicks and giggles I provided an animation of what happens if you kept contributing to your Roth IRA (blue) as well as if you stopped altogether (dotted orange). Either way, no spouse required. You a MILLIONAIRE, baby! 💰💰💰

I’m hoping we have been maxing out our IRAs for 16 years! This year, working toward that 401k too.
Day 2 Challenge: Pair up with a trusted buddy and gameplan your FIRST WIN!
And once you’ve paired up, tell them your percentage-based Savings and Health goals from yesterday. Then post in the group discussion the HABITS that you believe will help get you there! Ex: You don’t have a weight loss goal, but you don’t want to sit too long and have other serious health goals, so you want to walk 50,000 steps (or swim, bike, run) between now and Saturday. So you COMMIT to your partner that your goal is 0% weight gain and to walk 10,000 -12,500 steps per day (or swim on Monday, cycle on Wednesday, and run on Friday), eat healthy, hydrate, etc. and CRUSH IT! Ex: Historically, you stop at Starbucks on the way to work and, more times than not, have UberEats deliver food to the office, so you say your bigger goal is to save 20%(!) of your DISCRETIONARY INCOME this month, which means your new HABIT will be coffee from a thermos and meal-prepping with the money saved EARMARKED for pre-paying your student loans, HELOC, mortgage, etc. and/or funding your HSA, Roth IRA, Wedding, or Travel Budget. I’m including favorite pics of my all-time favorite ACCOUNTABILITY BUDDY whose partnership and constant inspiration taught me that I’m hella lot stronger than I thought I was. My favorite is of us crossing the finish line together at the Madison Triathlon in Pony, MT after she crossed it herself a half hour earlier. That’s right…she doubled back and finished TWICE just to ensure her big brother was okay and would taste the glory as she had. The second photo was taken yesterday with my flesh-and-blood BATTLE BUDDIES in studio in Bozeman, MT. Because we AIN’T PLAYIN’ and WE IN IT TO WIN IT!! P.S. Don’t have a buddy? Recruit one! Also, Lone Wolf, you are free to go it alone…After all, it’s like they say…If you want to go fast, go alone. But it you want to go far, go together. And even though I’d bet on the together concept for the long-term, going solo might suit you just fine for the month of March! Lucky us, one way or the other, we’ll find out, won’t we?!?

We are working to identify our discretionary spending still. We don’t eat out much, and living in a rural area limits our coffee stops and entertainment. We will eat out only twice in March, knowing that ski passes are purchased in April! And health goals. We’ll, half of this couple is a fitness wizard who has mastered his health. My goal is to increase fiber and cut carbs for the month, along with walking, skiing, or shuffling every day for at least 30 minutes.
