Welcome to The Outdoor Skool
Welcome to The Outdoor Skool. This is a practical learning community focused on real outdoor skills. Here you’ll find: - Fire making - Shelter building - Outdoor cooking - Tools, knives and axes - Walking and trips - Craft and traditional skills - Skill-based challenges This is not a place to just watch or read. The goal is to go outside and try. How to use this community: 1. Read the posts and challenges 2. Go outside and practice 3. Ask questions or share what you learned You don’t need to be experienced. You do need to be willing to learn. 👇 Start by introducing yourself: Where are you based, and what outdoor skills do you want to work on?

Welcome, @Alana Waters-Piper Having that much time outside is a strong foundation. Bushcraft builds nicely on awareness, patience and comfort in the field. You don’t need to unlearn anything here. We’ll start with simple, practical skills and build from there. If you had to pick one thing to begin with fire, tools, or shelter what draws your attention most right now?

Thanks, @Joseph Saab. Video can be useful for certain skills. Especially when technique matters. For now the focus is on getting people outside and practicing, but video will likely come in when it adds real value. Are there specific skills you’d find video helpful for?
Not every adventure needs a plan
Not every outdoor day needs a plan. A simple walk builds awareness. It keeps you connected. It keeps skills relevant. When was the last time you just went outside without a goal?

@Lisa O'Brien That still counts. Regular time outside matters more than distance. 😁
A good knife
You don’t need many knives to build skill. One good knife, well maintained, teaches more than five unused ones. Sharpening and care matter more than brands. What knife do you actually use outside?

What The Outdoor Skool is about
The Outdoor Skool is about learning real outdoor skills by doing. Fire, shelter, tools, cooking, walking and craft. Not perfect, but practiced. You don’t need expensive gear. You don’t need experience. You need time outside and a willingness to try. What outdoor skill do you want to build first?
