We Don’t Get What We Want. We Get What We Tolerate. (This Humbled Me.)
“We teach people how to treat us. We don’t get what we want. We get what we tolerate — in ourselves and in others.”— Tony Robbins I heard this quote years ago. But it took a long time for me to truly understand it — and even longer to see how much it was shaping my personal and professional life. At first, I thought my challenges were about: - clarity - timing - opportunity They weren’t. They were about what I was tolerating: - situations I avoided addressing - standards I never clearly set - habits I justified - patterns I kept repeating This quote humbled me because it quietly points the mirror back at us. Awareness doesn’t change everything instantly —but it does change the direction. Prompt: Where are you starting to see this show up in your own life?

Chapter 1: Calling the Shot
I’m writing a book called Frameworks Thinking — and instead of disappearing until it’s finished, I’m building it in public. This is Chapter 1: Calling the Shot. It’s the first chapter because nothing works until direction is declared. I’ve invited a small group of people I respect to be Founding Readers — not to promote anything, but to help pressure-test the ideas while the book is still taking shape. Over the next few weeks, I’ll be sharing frameworks from chapters that don’t exist yet, starting here. Your role is simple: - Read the framework - Notice what lands (and what doesn’t) - Share honest feedback No hype. No polish. Just real thinking, in real time. More coming soon. — Kevin

@Renee J thanks so much !
Decision fatigue isn’t laziness
Most people don’t procrastinate because they’re lazy. They procrastinate because they’re mentally exhausted from deciding all day. What stood out to me from Dr. Ben Hardy’s work is this idea:when your future is unclear, everything feels like a decision. What to work on.What to ignore.What actually matters. That constant mental negotiation drains energy fast. But when your future becomes clearer, a lot of decisions disappear — and action feels easier. Curious — where do you notice decision fatigue showing up most for you right now?
Why I’m Paying Attention to This (Starts Jan 14)
Quick context for why I’m sharing this here 👇 There are three people who genuinely changed my life:Eric Thomas, Russell Brunson, and Gary Vee. They shaped how I think about discipline, systems, and long-term thinking. Because of that, I don’t chase trends.I pay attention to moments. This week, that moment is the AI Business Summit, starting Jan 14. It’s a 3-day virtual event focused on how AI is actually being used in real businesses right now — not hype, not theory. It’s led by Alicia Lyttle, with insights from Russell Brunson, Gary Vee, and Neil Patel. If AI has been on your radar at all and you want clarity instead of noise, this is worth checking out. 👉 https://www.kevinmangum.com/ai-summit I’ll be sharing takeaways here during the event.

Time is a tool. (Free audiobook link)
Time isn’t your problem. How you’re using it is. That’s the core idea behind Dr. Benjamin Hardy’s audiobook Time Is a Tool. Instead of teaching time management, he explains: - Why “being busy” creates false progress - How people misuse their best hours without realizing it - How to use time as a leverage tool instead of a stress source If you’ve ever felt like you’re doing a lot but not moving forward, this will land. 🎧 Free audiobook by Dr. Benjamin Hardy: 👉 https://scaling.com/audio-time-player Worth a listen. Especially if you’re building something.
