First Set Feels Strong, Second Set Collapses — Need Help
I've been training consistently for 3 years. Earlier this year, I was making progress almost every workout — hitting PRs and still getting solid reps on my following sets. For example, I’d hit a PR on chest press with 70 lbs for 11 reps, and then get 8–9 reps on the next set with the same weight. But recently, it’s been getting much harder to hit PRs, and the drop-off between sets has gotten way steeper. Now, I might get 11 reps on the first set, but then only 5 reps on the second. What could be causing this, and how should I approach it?

Congratulations! You're officially out of the newbie phase! Thats not a dig. You're alot stronger now and closer to your upper limit. That means your CNS is getting taxed and that is harder to recover from than just your muscles recovering. It means you're gonna tank alot faster and harder. Now you're actually going to have to go through cycles and focus blocks. Maybe even deload phases. Bad news is you're gonna have to stop chasing the PR. I can go on and on but if you want more just hit me up. This is an early post so I think you get more POVs from others. Hope this helps.
