You’re More In Demand Than You Think
I spoke with a bookkeeping owner who does 2.2M in revenue. He’s been in business 4 years and has roughly 100 clients. We talked for around 30 minutes today about life, work, and the challenges of business. But he said something to me that I think should give everyone here hope. He said: “I love my overseas bookkeepers. They’re great workers and they’re always grateful. I wish I could hire them to be client facing, even more than my US employees. But, I think my clients prefer to talk to people here.” Huh 🤔 That tells me two things: 1) If you’re overseas, you might need to be targeting bookkeeping firms, CPA firms, or outsourced accounting roles. If you’re good, grateful, and reliable, that’s what these owners want. 2) If you’re here in the US, you need to target business owners. They don’t have the time to talk to people outside of their own time zones. Local bookkeepers are preferred. This means that wherever you are, there is a target client for you here in the states. You just have to find them. So don’t give up. It only takes one connection to change the game forever. Routing for you all ✊ P.S. I’m thinking about creating a LinkedIn course to teach how I’ve made these connections. Let me know if you think that’d be valuable in the comments. P.P.S. Go read today’s daily verse. It should be an encouragement to you all regarding this (Galatians 6:9)

I would love to learn more about how to connect with people and become their bookkeeper. Getting the first client is harder than I thought it would be.

I've always struggled with the P&L. That was one of my weaknesses when I was a manager of the restaurant. I understand the concept, it's all the little details where I get hung up on.

1. I am just getting started with my bookkeeping business. I was a manager of a restaurant, but I want to change direction and do something different. 2. In 6 months, I want to be full time with my bookkeeping business and I want to be helping others with their business. 3. I will take any steps necessary to achieve my goals. This is the 3rd set of classes about bookkeeping that I am going to take so I can learn as much as possible.
