Random mini studio ghibli paintings I am working on
These are something I come to when I get a quiet moment. It’s nice it’s a bit like a jigsaw puzzle and slowly build up the colours adding little details until it’s completed. My eldest daughter Esmae chose the spirited away movie as her choice of mini painted scenes for her bedroom and I decided to start one from Ponyo. There is something so nostalgic about the yellow house and the joy it gives me looking at all of the colours 🎨🖼️ Porco Rosso is the previous one I finished ⛲️🏡🪴

Seed starting and how it’s going
Okay, I know that I likely am too early here in the UK to be sowing some of these but I think that practice is a good thing and that it doesn’t always harm to have a few extra plants. I found that something’s have grown well after the germination phase and some haven’t and that’s all part of the learning. For example, I am growing some trap crops now; French Marigolds, I’ve started some parsley and I did start broccoli and some salads. Out of the broccoli only one germinated so this is exactly why sometimes it’s good to start a little bit early if you have the space of course. The greenhouse frame is up, but I haven’t had a chance to get the glass in and get the ground level because I am needing some help to do this. And of course we have had quite strong winds and bad weather so for now everything is doing well in pots, and in trays, and so far.. the cat hasn’t got up and sat on any 😅 There is a picture of said cat (Suki) below 😏 And I recently got some free plants and some trees that were going to be thrown away from a garden that my daughter’s dad was working on, I’m planning on taking some of these to the Allotment as well ☺️

Allotment & life mixed into one!
Growing, trying to bake a birthday cake, and get a children’s party ready, as well as volunteering in a school and a local allotment community to learn how to put up a greenhouse! It was all go up to the end of 2025 on the plot 13a! There is still the ever ongoing challenge with bindweed The plot was quite a bit tidy up when I took it on and I am still in the process early this spring of getting this completely level. Last year was a bit of a wing it method where I just wanted to get some plants in the soil to see how they would get on and also to get to know the space for growing. It wasn’t perfect, I had just moved home so I may have taken on more than I could chew last year, but we pushed on and this year I am hoping to learn a lot more, try different methods and try to make the most of growing on the plot for 2026 🪴 You can find more videos on my YouTube under the name plot13a diaries, I will be uploading some videos from last year and sharing updates on the plots development this spring here in the group! https://youtube.com/@plot13adiaries?si=edkVpFhz0rZaUw_b

Allotment & life mixed into one!
Welcome to Plot 13a diaries! 🌱✨
Hello and welcome! With spring approaching here in the northern hemisphere in the UK, I am getting very excited to get started for the productive (hopefully) growing season ahead. I started filming my experience at the Allotment last year on my YouTube channel grow sloww, I chose this name because I didn’t want to give anyone the pressure or idea that they needed to have gardening figured out straight away. I am always learning! And I do not claim to be a professional in any way! Last year was challenging for me after the passing of my dad, there were some delays and challenges along the way, but this year I am coming back stronger with New hopes to bring to the Allotment plot 13a 💚 I’ve started off with some beautiful flowers for the pollinators some trap crop flowers and some veggies! - Sweet peppers - Parsnips - Chilies - Onions - Chamomile - Peppermint - Chives - Red chicory - Marigold’s & nasturtiums - Verbena - Stock - Snapdragons - Fox gloves - Hollyhocks - And many more.. Now I don’t claim that any of these will fully survive the process 🤣🌱 it all depends on how they do in the greenhouse once we get things going! So welcome in following along my journey do share your experiences and questions and I look forward to seeing what we can share and experience in this community 🪴 happy growing 🌱✨🫶🏻https://youtu.be/0nsJvzCFK5A?si=YguULDBWp9XBR0W8

Here is the new channel link: https://youtube.com/@plot13adiaries?si=udUbHP39N8QopWiY Although there are no videos here currently, I will be moving everything from grow sloww over to this new channel due to the algorithms being a little bit mixed up where I originally started with that account as an art channel. I’ve also had a bit of difficulty with Instagram getting back into the growslow_iow account since updating my phone number 😭 I do love to share my art now and then in my Instagram and things like that so I’m not fully giving up on it. I would love to be able to create amazing art prints with gardening inspired designs for bags or anything that could be useful, but at the moment I’ve taken a break from it 🍀
