@Juliana Plucinik That's an interesting looking one. Had to look up "phubbing!"
Nobody taught me how to supervise
Nobody taught me how to supervise. I got certified, got assigned supervisees, and figured it out as I went. Most of us did. That means supervision looks different from one BCBA to the next. Each of us invents our own approach from scratch. No shared structure, no consistency, lots of guesswork. Lauren Donovan is teaching a free live CEU on this Wednesday at noon ET: Building a Supervision System That Actually Works. It's about turning supervision from a weekly meeting into a real system. Organized, consistent, prepared. If you supervise anyone, it's worth your lunch break. 1 free CEU for attending live. https://openceu.com/live/5bc27fea-564a-46cf-978a-256e305abbff

Wait, you mean we should be following a more technologically replicable framework? 💡Seriously, though. That's my very first thought after reading this post.
We can do better than a template
The scariest thing in ABA right now isn't the criticism from outside. It's how many assessments come out looking identical no matter the kid. If the plan would fit any child on your caseload, it wasn't really an assessment. We can do better than a template.

This is definitely scary. I really think it's even scarier to see use of AI pushed to help cut report writing time. Hope everyone has their GOOD reading glasses on before submitting an AI generated report. OMG
I spent $90k and passed a board exam to make clinical decisions
I spent $90k and passed a board exam to make clinical decisions. So it stings when a scheduling dashboard makes them for me. I get it. Companies need operations. Scheduling is hard. Utilization pays the bills. But there's a line. Who a client sees. How many hours they get. When services end. Those are clinical calls, and they belong to the clinician who holds the case. If you run a company: your BCBAs want to work with you, not around you. Put a clinician in every room where clinical calls get made. That one change would keep more of us in the field than any pizza party ever will.

LOL calling out the pizza parties 🤣 @Theresa Praul-DeFrank Matt, this is SO TRUE. Glad to read where you draw the line.
