Discussion Post Two - Biblical Interpretation
Pick a BibleProject video on the book of the Bible that you wish to study more of. After watching their video, what are some key takeaways about the context of the book? 1. Who wrote the book? 2. What was the historical context of the book? 3. What are some key takeaways from what you learned?

The book of Isaiah. 1. It was written by Isaiah the prophet of God 2. Not too much historical context was given across the two videos other than, The book beginning in the later half of Israel’s kingdom period to being under attack, then into the second video which spoke on Israel’s exile and liberation. Interestingly enough Isaiah passed before the ending of the book ( after the exile 720s BC) to which there are two possible responses as to how the book was finished. (His voice projected into the future, or His prophetic words through his trusted disciples.) 3. Key takeaways 4. - Through Isaiah God spoke a clear message “Repent for the Kingdom of God is near!” First it was spoken to Israel’s leaders, a warning of judgement. To turn away from rebellion, idolatry, and injustice to be purified and turn into a new Jerusalem. -Instead of repentance and trust in God Israel’s leaders turn to worldly powers and 100years later Israel was betrayed and every word from God came true. 5. - the second half Gods message is now to Israel as a people, an announcement of hope and comfort. Exile is over, Go home, Gods kingdom is otw. -Instead of being grateful Israel is big mad and loses faith, God responds, and Israel doesn’t change. -So He does a new thing , God raises up a Servant named Israel (lwk Jesus) who dies as a sacrifice for sin and raises again then the people respond in two ways “The Servants” are humble, repent and inherit Gods kingdom (the new Jerusalem) or “The Wicked” resist , reject The Servant & servants and are faced with Gods judgement then removed from the kingdom. Every nation is welcome to The Choice not just Israel. 6. My Biggest Takeaway is that this book is a great way to sum up reality Aka The Bible, which makes sense as to why Isaiah is one of the most quoted prophets throughout it, the general message of it is very evangelitic in showing Gods heart of grace and truth.
