This week we got into a Q&A on MONETIZATION + BRAND DEALS! Aka all the behind-the-scenes stuff that actually makes you money. Big reality check: being good at content ≠ being good at monetization. Getting paid is a whole separate skill. You need to know how to negotiate, spot red flags (hi “use in perpetuity” 🚩), and actually value your time. We also walked through real examples from everyone — offers, negotiations, content strategies, and what I would do in each situation — so you can see how this actually plays out IRL. We talked a lot about how engagement > follower count. There are creators with smaller audiences making way more money simply because their audience is locked in. Brands care about results, not vanity metrics. We also got into how to actually get deals coming in. You don’t have to just sit around and wait — tagging brands, getting on PR lists, and showing love to brands you already use can turn into paid opportunities later. Think pipeline, not instant gratification. On the money side, I gave y’all the golden rules: - Ask for their budget first (always!!) - Charge for usage rights if they want to reuse your content - Don’t count free product as payment unless you’d genuinely buy it yourself - And please for the love of god do not accept 30 deliverables for $450 😭 Overall vibe: you are a business, not just a creator. Partnership question
I get paid by intake to make 4 reels a month. However they DM asking if they can run my video on their page just need the partnership code? Is this not the same thing as inviting them to collab or different? Also should I ask for them to pay me to do that, even though they technically already pay me monthly for it? @Kaylee Sulz @Nick Whaley @Daniel Coffeen

This is paid boosting - they essentially want to put ad $$ behind your content. Doesn't hurt since the content is already created and it should run from your account with their $$ so you get additional exposure for free! I would just clarify how long they're wanting to boost it for

Today we ran through EMAILS!! Super fun. I walked everyone through some common types of inbound emails from brands I get and how I go about responding to them all. If you want to get paid, you have to know how to respond to emails! You are competing with a million other creators to get paid. How you respond & how fast you respond could make or break if you're chosen for a collaboration or not. Because I love you, I have created a MASTER EMAIL RESPONSE DOCUMENT that I will be updating with easy plug & play, copy & paste & fill in the blank responses you can use when responding until you have a better idea of when & how to respond to certain emails.
