Putting Jesus At The Center Of Our Health
Call me crazy but taste isn’t my main reason for food selection (if it were I’d be eating ice cream all day. Trust.) šŸ¦ I choose primarily God Grown Goods not just because of how they make ME feel, but how me feeling phenomenal makes OTHERS feel. Here me out: āž”ļø How we health either can help or hurt people. It’s true. The health status of our bodies, minds, faith, and relationships impacts everyone we come in contact with. āž”ļø We project outside what’s happening inside. So, eat for how you want to look? How’s that goal going for ya? šŸ˜‰ Eat for how you want to treat people. Because love is the most powerful goal Jesus gave us. āœļø

Health = Available. Not skinny.
I’m am convinced that Biblical physical wellness has way LESS to do with becoming the skinniest version of ourselves… …and way MORE to do with becoming the most AVAILABLE version of ourselves. Episode 7ļøāƒ£1ļøāƒ£ of the Healtheology Podcast digs into health giving us the capacity to be: 🩵Available to love 🩵Available to serve 🩵Available to show up with energy, patience, strength, and presence for the people God placed in front of us Because when your body constantly feels depleted, inflamed, exhausted, overstimulated, or neglected… everything feels harder than it needs to. This doesn’t mean we worship health. And it doesn’t mean we obsess over our bodies. šŸ‘‰ It means we steward them. (steward = taking care of something that isn’t ours) āŒNot for vanity āŒNot to earn approval āŒNot to become ā€œthe fit friendā€ But for **capacity** Healthy to help. Not skinny to socialize šŸ¤ What’s your opinion on this?

@Kay Bruinius-Reiselt glad it resonates! Health is to give. Not to receive.

@Emily Byrne yes! This perspective shift has changed the game for me.

I copied link for the colorful worksheet in the Bible Devotional. Must admit, my brain reset it into a Venn Diagram, but šŸ¤ the personal accountability in my daily devotion. It’s amazing how 1 sheet can change your trajectory in development for a closer walk with God. The visuals of growth, grace and peace, hold me together for not only accountability, but also intentional areas I need to work thru for growth with the Holy Spirit!

ā“Pentecost Posture FAQ (temptations & habits)
Happy Monday, health seeking Christ followers! I put together a brief FAQ lesson for you in the Pentecost Posture Course. - It's a helpful reminder that the POINT of this program is that we WILL have temptations and we WILL veer off course...but that's what REAL LIFE of following Jesus is all about! - We commit, we fall, we acknowledge, we repent, we ask for help, we get back on the horse. So, check out the FAQ lesson the the Pentecost Posture Course on the Classroom tab. And then, leave a comment if you have any questions or revelations! Your feedback means the world to me. Bless y'al!

I love the length, I love your story, and I love you Emily! There's science behind our persistent habits, and there's spirituality as well. With science, a very helpful book called Atomic Habits can help you understand why you go back to the same unaligned health patterns -- even if it's not from a craving, or it's not from an emotion, it's simply an automatic habit you've trained your brain to do. You simply (yet yes, temporarily frustrating) repave a new path in your brain. And on the spiritual front, it's: - Visualizing how Jesus would think and behave if He were you in that situation - Praying to the full Trinity for divine help, all day, every day It won't be easy, but you're smart, and it's worth it. He's worth it.
